SPARR JV Tanzania Limited is a joint venture between Sparr Drilling Company Limited & Ground Breakers Africa Limited. Sparr Drilling Company Limited is one of the leading borehole drilling contractors in Tanzania, Kenya, and Sudan. Established 10 years ago, the company owns two modern, state-of-art rotary drilling rigs and elgi compressors all using down the hole (DTH) drilling method, clearly putting us ahead of the competitionin the drilling industry. Drilling rig has a capacity of 250 - 360 meters maximum. Sparr Drilling Co. LTD has been performing drilling works in the Tanzania regions for approximately 10 years. With this experience in mind, we have extensive knowledge in the field of borehole drilling and understand requirements of specific customers as well as projects. The company has been involved in a number of projects involving evaluation, baseline studies, feasability studies, environmental impact assessment, project design and proposal development, community need assessment, etc. Currently the company employs two drillers and two assistants with over twenty years combined experience in drilling and maintenance of the machines. The company has a total of eighteen emplyees, who form part of the drilling crew in their respective units. For pump and recovery tests, the company has six pumps for use on site, including the necessary equipment to lower and lift submersible pumps. Supergrid was established in 1983 and traded until 1992 under the name CHT-BOPH (Pty) Ltd. Its present owners took over the company in September 1992 and have implemented major improvements since then. Supergrid manufactures and supplies grating, stair treads and hand railing products to power stations, mining houses, refineries, silos and steel stockists. Supergrid products have many other industrial applications. Supergrid also exports its products to various overseas markets. The company has contracts with Anglo, Arcelor Mittal, De Beers and Bamagwato Concessions Limited. Supergrid products are approved by Eskom and have been supplied to power stations such as Tutuka, Kendal, Matimba and Majuba. Tailor-made gratings have been supplied to various mines and recently to Waterval, Klipfontein, Mortimer, etc. through contractors such as Concor, Group Five, Sydcor, Murray & Roberts, Gillis Mason amongst others. Supergrid products, now widely known and respected throughout South Africa and have become synonymous with a high standard of quality and workmanship.
